Hummer Tires

Although the very first iterations of AM General’s Humvee were factory equipped with a bias-ply 36×12.50-16.5LT, the radial 37×12.50R16.5 hummer tires they transitioned to early in the platform’s lifecycle are what ultimately became the standard on the military HMMWV (and was the traditional OEM tire size for many Hummer H1 model years as well).

The original 37” tread pattern and most recognizable out of all the military 16.5 hummer tires to see active service are the directional Goodyear Wrangler MT military oz’s, which were used almost exclusively by the US military from the early 1990’s until 2006/2007, when the need for an E/10-ply 16.5 option on heavier up-armored Humvees resulted in the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R and the BFGoodrich Baja T/A.
